Greta's acrylic paintings are known for their distinctly West Coast flavour, sense of strong design and joyful use of colour. After completing a degree in Graphic Design, she emigrated from South Africa to Vancouver in 1980 and has worked as a fine artist from her studio in Gibsons since 1992. Her approach to painting is based on a personalized vision that starts with observation and selection of a subject, which is then simplified and distorted to create strength and balance in the composition. Colour serves as the expressive, poetic element that communicates with the viewer on an emotional level. Over the years Greta has taught workshops for children and adults through Capilano University and other community-based art centers. She is back with the Gibsons School of the Arts for the third time by popular demand.
